Terms of Use
Version 2026-10-24 · Last updated October 24, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Paranotica when you use paranotica.com, create an account, or share work here. By using the site you agree to them. If you have an artist account, you also agree to our Human-Made Pledge. Our privacy page explains what we collect and why.
Paranotica is new and still growing. Some features described here are early, and we'll keep these terms up to date as things change.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 18 to create an account or to use Paranotica. Some work here is dark or disturbing.
- Give us accurate information and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.
- One person per account. Don't create accounts for other people without their permission, and don't create accounts to get around a suspension.
2. Artist accounts
- Anyone can create an artist account. We review every piece before it’s published, and we can decline a piece, or close an artist account, at our discretion.
- Every piece needs our approval before it's published. We review your photos and details online; nothing needs to be sent to us. Your artist page becomes public when your first piece is approved. Changes to pieces that are already published go live right away, and must still follow these terms and the Pledge.
- You can make a piece private, or remove it, from your artist page. Pieces that have sold, or that people have shown interest in, can't be removed one by one, but you can always make them private.
3. Your work stays yours
You keep ownership of, and copyright in, everything you post: your work, photos, videos and descriptions (“your content”). You confirm that you own your content or have permission to post it, including any photos or videos someone else took, and that posting it doesn't break anyone else's rights.
4. What you post must be yours to share
You may only post work, photos, videos and text that you made yourself or have permission to use. By posting, you confirm that you own the rights or have permission from whoever does.
Don't post anything that copies someone else's copyrighted work, trademark, logo or characters without permission. This applies to everything on your page, whether or not it's for sale.
If we believe something breaks this rule, we may hide or remove it without notice. Repeated or serious problems may lead to your account being closed.
5. What you let us do with your content
So that we can run Paranotica, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- Show it on Paranotica: host, store, display and share your content on the site, including your artist page, item pages, search, link previews and your archive.
- Prepare it for the site: resize, crop and convert images and videos, make previews and thumbnails, and remove sound from videos, without changing what your work is.
- Promote it: use your published work, with your name and a link to your page where practical, to promote Paranotica and your work on it: on social media, in email, in advertising, in press and in printed materials.
The promotion permission lasts while the work is published on Paranotica, including in your archive. If you make a piece private, remove it, or close your account, we stop making new promotional uses of it within a reasonable time. We don't have to remove posts, emails or printed materials that were already published or distributed.
We never sell your work or license it to anyone else to use separately from Paranotica. We never use your work to train AI, and we don't allow anyone else to.
6. What can be posted, and how to behave
Work on Paranotica must be original work made by hand, by the artist or their studio, and must follow our artist guidelines and the Human-Made Pledge. That means no AI-generated artwork or designs, no mass-produced, print-on-demand or dropshipped goods, no items that are entirely 3D-printed, and no human remains or body parts other than legally and ethically sourced human hair or teeth. Dark, disturbing, provocative or anti-religious work is welcome.
Nobody may use Paranotica to:
- post anything that promotes hate, such as Nazi, KKK or white supremacist content, or anything that promotes racism or hatred of people;
- post anything illegal, infringing, harassing, threatening or deceptive, or misrepresent how a piece was made;
- send spam, impersonate someone, or collect other people's personal information;
- copy, scrape or download content from the site in bulk, including to train AI or machine-learning systems;
- interfere with, overload, or try to break into the site or other people's accounts.
We can decline, hide or remove anything that doesn't fit, and suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with or without notice. Anyone can flag a piece they think doesn't belong. Flags come only to us, and we decide what happens.
7. Interest, messages and commissions
- Paranotica doesn't process purchases yet. Showing interest in a piece tells the artist you'd consider buying it at the amount shown. It isn't an order, reservation, offer or payment, and it doesn't commit you or the artist to anything.
- When you message an artist, they receive your message by email. If they reply, their reply comes from their email address, and they'll see yours.
- Commissions, and any sale you arrange with an artist outside Paranotica, are between you and the artist. Paranotica provides tools to talk and keep track, but isn't a party to the agreement, doesn't handle the payment, and doesn't guarantee the work, payment or delivery.
- Be respectful. We can read messages and commission conversations when needed for support, safety or disputes, as our privacy page explains.
- When buying through Paranotica opens, it will come with its own terms, which we'll publish before it starts.
8. The Council, badges and plans
- The Council lets artists vote on proposals and tell us what they think. Votes and notes guide our decisions, but Paranotica makes the final call, and a vote isn't a promise that something will happen.
- Badges, such as Founding Artist and Council Member, recognize artists on their pages. We decide how badges are earned and can change them as Paranotica grows. We can remove a badge from an account that breaks these terms.
- Joining Paranotica and having an artist page is free. We may offer paid plans or charge fees for new features in the future. We'll tell you before any charge applies to you, and nothing is ever charged without your agreement.
9. QR codes and short links
Your QR code and short link are free to use on cards, tags, packaging and anywhere else you share your work. They point to your page on Paranotica and keep working while your page is here. If a page or piece is removed or an account is closed, its codes and links stop leading to it.
10. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Paranotica infringes your copyright, email t@paranotica.com with: a link to the material, a description of your work, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, and a statement that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for them. We'll look into it and may remove the material and let the person who posted it know. If your work was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can reply to explain. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
11. Removing content and closing accounts
You can make your work private, remove eligible pieces, or close your account at any time. When an artist closes their account, their artist page and all of their work, including sold pieces in the archive, photos, videos, commissions and messages, are permanently deleted. Other accounts can be closed by emailing us from the address on the account.
We may keep limited records where we need them: to follow the law, to deal with abuse or disputes, or, once purchasing opens, records of orders. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
12. Your ideas and feedback
We love hearing ideas, through the Council, problem reports, or just an email. If you share feedback or suggestions, we can use them to improve Paranotica without owing you anything for them.
13. Links to other sites
Artist pages link to Instagram, websites and other places we don't control. We aren't responsible for what's on them or what happens there.
14. Changes to Paranotica
We're always working on the site. We can add, change or stop features, and the site may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
15. No guarantees
We work hard to keep Paranotica running well, but the site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that the site will always be available or error-free, or that any artist, buyer, piece or commission will be what you expect.
16. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Paranotica isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data, or for anything between you and another user, such as a commission, a sale arranged outside the site, or a message. Our total liability for any claim relating to Paranotica is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Paranotica in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
17. Your responsibility
If you post content or do something that breaks these terms, the law, or someone else's rights, you're responsible for it, and you agree to cover Paranotica's reasonable costs, including legal fees, from claims that result.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kentucky, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Kentucky, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where it qualifies. Before bringing any claim, please email us so we can try to resolve it.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Paranotica grows, for example when purchasing opens. If a change is significant, we'll tell artists by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use Paranotica after that means you accept the updated terms.
20. The rest
These terms, the Human-Made Pledge and our privacy page are the whole agreement between you and Paranotica about the site. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to later. You can't transfer your account or these terms to someone else; we may transfer them if Paranotica is reorganized or sold.
